What is CPAP therapy?

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is a treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea. A machine supplies pressurised room air through tubing and a mask to help keep the airway open while you sleep. Your doctor or sleep specialist can advise whether it is appropriate for you. CPAP treats the breathing obstruction while it is used; it is not a cure for sleep apnoea. Getting comfortable with the equipment can take time. Ask your treating team for help if you are struggling, and follow your prescribed treatment plan.

Read our guide to understanding CPAP for practical information about equipment, mask comfort and everyday care.

CPAP machines and accessories

Airway Care supplies CPAP machines, masks and accessories. Speak with us about available equipment, pricing and the support included before making a purchase.

Fixed-pressure and auto-adjusting devices work differently. The appropriate device and settings should be guided by your treatment requirements, not simply by a product’s popularity or price. Learn about CPAP equipment

Already have a machine? Let us know its make and model and what you need help with when you contact us. We can confirm whether we can assist with your equipment before arranging an appointment.

CPAP mask fitting

A mask needs to suit both your treatment and your comfort. Nasal, nasal-pillow and full-face designs offer different options. Persistent leaks or discomfort are reasons to seek a fit review rather than assume you must put up with them. Read our CPAP mask comfort guide Contact Airway Care about a mask-fitting appointment. Tell us which mask you currently use, whether you are new to CPAP and the issue you would like to discuss. Ask what equipment to bring and which mask options are available.

Getting started with Airway Care

1. Confirm your treatment needs

If you have a diagnosis and treatment recommendation, contact our team to discuss an appointment. We will confirm which reports or documents are needed before your visit.

If you have not been assessed, speak with your GP first. A sleep study may be part of the assessment, but not everyone needs the same test or treatment.

2. Arrange your appointment

Book online or call 02 7259 8777. If you are unsure which appointment to select, contact us first. Ask about fees, equipment availability and what to bring.

3. Discuss equipment and setup

At your appointment, discuss machine and mask options, equipment setup and questions about day-to-day use. Confirm the support included with your equipment and how to contact the team afterwards.

4. Seek support when needed

Contact us if you have questions about mask fit or equipment. Ongoing symptoms or concerns about the effectiveness of treatment should also be discussed with your treating clinician.
